Service Learning Proposal

There are three sections, which you should label, to the SL Proposal:

1. Organizational Structure
Here, the class must explain the organization structure of the group:

• You must include a rationale, based on global women's/feminist activism, for why you have chosen your organizational strategy. 
• You must include your group's founding document as evidence. This may be: a charter, a mission statement, an open letter, etc. (ideally this is set on a shared goal or goals).
• You must explain the leadership/governing structure and how leadership will be enacted.
• You must explain how you will work on both a local and global level, including the expectations for global communication with your global partner.
• You must explain the protocol for "sticky situations" and how you will deal with issues of responsibility and accountability.
• You must include how you will assess the group's effectiveness for the final service learning paper.

2. Community Partner/Global Theme Profile:

• Explain the larger systemic and institutional global issues your service project will address. Back this up with outside research, including mutiple source types like newspaper articles, blogs, academic research, social movements and NGO sites, government publications, etc.
• Explain how your service project addresses these larger systemic global issues and what steps your group will take toward this goal.
• Link the global issues you are addressing with the global partner(s)/local partner(s) you have chosen. How do these intersect? 
• How does this project address the goals and objectives of our course? Use the course texts and provide a detailed rationale for why this should count as service learning (and not just activism or volunteer work).

3. The Project Proposal:

• Explain the actual proposed project. What will you all do? How will you accomplish this?
•  Explain the feasibility of your project. How will you actually get this done? What resources and expertise will you use to make this happen? How have you devised a plan to put the "right" people on the "right" job? This should include your group's strategy for including other community members or organizations, for advertising, for actually working with a global group, for raising the funds necessary to do the work you plan.

• Is your immediate goal something you can do for this class? Is this sustainable, how will you set a structure in place to continue work toward the larger goal?
• What will you individually do? Include a timeline.

Make sure to include a work's cited page, which should include at least one course text and three other outside sources.
