In 2011 President Obama's administration released a report on the progress of women socially and economically. You can read the press release about it here. This is part of their 2009 effort with their formed Council on Women and Girls.
You can also go the website of the report to read the summaries or downland the full report (very useful for activism, up to date data or stats for service learning, and just good to know data). There are even kits you can dowload about having conversations the government is pushing for gender equity.
