Final Service Learning Paper

Your paper should include:

• Project Summary: (600 words maximum; please be concise; note that much for this section probably already exists in your proposal and log, which I hope you will draw from here.)

o   Origins and scope of project: what did you plan to accomplish and why?

o   What exactly did you do?  How did the project evolve, what were the successes and limitations of your project and its goals, and what have you learned from that?

o   What was the significance of your project to the texts, themes, and goals of the course (ie: your research)?

o   How was your understanding of the texts/issues considered in the course upheld, complicated, or negated by the process of completing the project?

• Synthesis:  (Answer ONE of the following questions that most connects with your SL project.  This section should be approximately 700 words and should include textual support and/or documentation from one external resource besides our course texts.
• How has untangling the label of “feminism” from global women’s movements created/not-created a space for the mobilization of global movements?
• How do dominant western discourses and 1^st world/3^rd world frameworks shape the dynamics of global feminist organizing?
• How can a local-to-global framework inform U.S. feminist movements?
• How can feminists and women, in light of the diversity of their lives and the subsequent power dynamics inherent in that diversity, work together with (instead of for) other women?
• Reflection and connection: (approximately 350 words, plus rubrics)

• This section will consider the ways that experiences this semester, both in and out of class, including both the readings and the SL project you completed, impacted how you understand global women’s organizing. Critically reflect on your role in the group project and the work of the group as a whole. Analyze how your group either effectively or ineffectively modeled global feminist/women's organizing. Give yourself a grade for your work in this project. Then, rate your group members on a 1-3 rubric. The rubric is an exercise and will not be used to actually grade your classmates work, only your own.
